IN MEMORIUM
Eve Fernandez
1930 - 2010

written by her loving husband, Paul Fernandez
Eve was truly special. She was special to God, to me
and to many, many uncounted thousands who were touched
personally by a very unusual spiritual Agape love, which
flowed from her. Eve was my beloved wife for a few
days short of forty-seven years. Our forty seventh
wedding anniversary was April 17, 2010.
Eve left to be with the Lord April 8, 2010. She was
born-again on a Saturday night when she was twelve years
old. She took her Bible down into her father's pasture
land the next morning. She knelt down, opened her
Bible to the Old Testament and thanked God for saving her.
She asked to know Him better and He literally swept her off
her feet as he baptized her in the Holy Spirit. The
Lord blew the pages from the Old Testament to Acts 2 to show
her about what he did for her.
Eve loved to tell her testimony. I heard it thousands
of times. It impressed people deeply. She was
licensed by the Church of God from Cleveland, TN before she
was fifteen. She held a revival atop a local mountain
and it was attended by hundreds. She preached to many
in the cotton fields. She was the state youth director
in the state of Mississippi. Eve had powerful
discernment and saw many visions and interpreted then.
She preached powerfully under a strong anointing.
Eve had a gift for effective intercessory prayer and she
sang beautifully. She wrote many songs and made four
albums of Nashville related recordings. She played
several musical instruments and could really reach your
heart.
People loved Eve and she loved them. Love poured out
of her. It was true love. She studied constantly
throughout her entire life. God told her often to take
care of her frail body. We felt it began when
she fell off her father's hay wagon at age seven.
Eve had a hysterectomy in her early thirties caused by
cancer. She developed osteoporosis and suffered
terribly from pain, but never stopped. She loved
to have wheels turning under her and we traveled for twenty
five years pulling a luxury Limited Airstream travel
trailer.
She underwent surgery for what was professionally called the
world's worst back in the year 2000. There were at
least five more major surgeries during the next six
years. Alzheimer's took over and she spent the next
several months in hospice care.
The doctor showed me the X-ray of her brain. It had
shrunk to an advanced state. He declared her broken
neck healed. It had been 2.8 centimeters out of line
and her head was frozen to one side. The disks lined
up perfectly and her neck straightened out. Her broken ankle, hip, and
femur were all healed. Her frozen replaced knees had
no pain and a forty year pain like a toothache from raw
nerves in her chest was gone.
She ministered to just about every staff person in the
place. She woke the whole building up once praying so
loud at 2 AM. The nurse went to her room and Eve asked
her to pray for her. The nurse said she was quiet and
did not know how to pray for people. Eve responded, "I
command you to pray for me." This nurse muttered a few
words and broke into speaking in tongues.
At another time, a staff person came in obviously pregnant.
I asked her if I could pray for her baby and she said sister
Eve already had. They all loved her and visited her
constantly.
Eve recognized everyone who came to see her. I read a
Scripture to her. When I stopped reading she continued
with the Scripture. If her brain was not restored her
Spirit had taken over. Love was pouring out of her.
The Pastor of a men's mission about an hour and a half away
in Alabama saw a vision of a Flaming Sword. He went to
the Internet and our website came up. He and his wife
came to our home. She was the administrator of an assisted
living establishment. She assigned one of her staff to
stay with Eve at our home.
I brought Eve home with around-the-clock hospice assistance.
She was elated. We had wonderful loving conversations.
She expressed many times of her
readiness to go, but everyone thought somebody was holding
her back or she was holding herself back for someone.
Eve was at home for eight days. She came home on
Thursday and she lost the ability to swallow by Saturday.
Her eyes glazed over and she lost the ability to
communicate. On the eighth day, fluid began filling
her lungs. She developed what they call the "death
rattle". She was obviously in pain. I prayed for
no suffering.
That afternoon I went outside. I walked in the yard
calling out to the Lord. He spoke and said, "I know
your grief. I know your love. My love is
greater. I am waiting for her. I want to press her to
my great bosom. My great bosom is greater than
Abraham's bosom. I have much for you to still do, but
you will walk beside her again."
I went to Eve's bedside not knowing whether I was speaking
to her mind or her spirit, and I said, "Eve, the Lord is
waiting for you. There is no reason, no reason. . .
absolutely no reason to delay. I love you dearly and I
release you."
I left to get Morphine. The attendant with Eve later
told me Eve settled down at ease when I left. When I
returned the nurse was waiting for me on the patio.
She told me Eve left her body five minutes before my return.
I was completely at peace. She was with the Lord.
I made arrangements to have a service in the local
Assemblies of God Church. I wanted all the women of
the church I could get to minister and officiate her
graduation celebration into Heaven.
The service began on Saturday morning and continued until
six in the evening. I didn't know if there would be
anymore than a scant few. We know people everywhere,
but they were far off in other states, but people came all
day long.
I showed DVDs on a television of her ministering. I
played the albums of her singing her songs. We stood
by her prepared so well for viewing she looked as though she
ought to sit up. I had seen people at their funerals
you could hardly recognize. Eve looked alive.
The pastor had the meal catered and we ate in the fellowship
hall. More people came in. A lady we had known
for years brought chicken dressing, one of Eve's favorite
dishes.
More people came in the afternoon and many stood on the
platform and told of how much she had touched their lives.
One dear friend from childhood told of going to hear Eve
preach the night before having her first child. She
said it eased her in the pain of having him.
A woman who pastors a church in Hulaco, AL preached a
powerful anointed sermon. More came and testified.
The church ladies choir sang and a pastor with a praise team
that is seen on world-wide television brought the Holy
Spirit down for over two hours. I was well-pleased and
at peace. The Lord had spoken to me that morning at
the breakfast table very unexpectedly. He said, "She
is here. She has been in the garden. She has been in
the stream and she walked up the Path of Gold."
She was truly special to the Lord. A man once cursed
her severely and his tongue rotted out of his mouth.
Some still insist that these things were only for the
Apostles. Some said they were drunk on the Day of
Pentecost. The local pastor in Assisi, Italy in 1245
A.D. organized a fire brigade to put out the fire in the
monastery where Francis and Clair were holding a prayer and
praise meeting. They came to learn that what they
thought was a destructing fire was actually the Holy spirit
manifesting His pleasure in the Praise and worship going up
before the Father in Heaven.
The same thing happened in Booneville, Mississippi where Eve
took her grandparents to church in the 1940's. Her
grandmother spoke in tongues and her grandfather was humbled
deeply. The pastor touched a growth on his eye and it
fell down on the foot of a young man standing close by.
He got saved that night, built a church and one night the
neighbors called the fire department to the church because
they thought it was burning down.
Eve was the best thing that ever happened to me. I
know I have an awful lot to do still. The Lord has
told me so. I'm anxious to follow His voice, but I am
also anxious to join hands with Eve and walk that Golden
Path with her.

EVE'S STORY -
An Astonishing Testimony
People are elated as she tells her story. Their eyes are fixed on
her, as she tells this amazing story of how God came down and
touched her as a little girl. They are visibly deeply impressed, as
she relates how the Lord called her to His service.
When
she was twelve years old, her uncle offered to take her and some
cousins to the movies on Saturday night to see a Deadend Kids film.
Her father, who was a deacon and Sunday school teacher in the First
Baptist Church, told her the church was having a revival and she
would have to go there first, to be able to see the movie. She did
not want to go to the revival, but she wanted to see the movie so
she went to the revival.
During the service she came under conviction. She made her way
forward and began praying. As she tells it, there was no altar
rail, so she made her self an altar. Some women gathered
around her and prayed briefly with her, and then the pastor came
over. He bent down and asked her if she wanted to join the church.
She said, “No sir, I want to get saved.”
The
next morning, when her parents were getting ready for church, Eve
asked her father if she could take the new Bible he had given her
and go up around the pond and pray. He agreed, so she ran off
across the field and laid her Bible on the ground before her. It
was opened to the Old Testament.
Then
she spoke to God. She said, “Lord my Daddy knows all about this
Bible, I don’t. It seems to contradict itself everywhere I read.
Would you please show me how to understand it?”
She
continued, “I truly thank you for saving me. I want to live for
You, but I need to know You. And I need to understand what it is
You are saying in this Bible. Please show me.”
This is where I began getting
astonished. She told me that a “wave” came over her. The wave she
was talking about, I eventually came to realize, was a move of God.
Invisible power from on high had stirred her mortal body. The gifts
of the Holy Spirit, as described in First Corinthians Twelve, were
being imparted into her. God Himself was giving her supernatural
ability to understand the spiritual endowments hidden from the
carnal pursuer in the pages of the Bible. God was answering Eve’s
request.
She told me – as she would in time tell
many others – that, as the wave came over her, she could hardly keep
her feet on the ground. She danced about the meadow in euphoric
pleasure.
As
she danced beneath the trees, completely enraptured in the Lord’s
presence, she began speaking in a language she did not understand.
That did not impress her as much as the actual Presence that she
felt throughout her entire being. She had never seen nor heard
anyone speak of such an experience. She knew nothing about this
spiritual enduement – being clothed with power from on high.
When
the wave eased she returned to her Bible. That’s when she
discovered that the wind had blown it’s pages from the Old Testament
to the New. God had turned the pages to Acts Two, where she read
the description of the 120 receiving the promised baptism in the
Holy Spirit they had prayerfully awaited for days.
